Lawn care services:
Using high quality, professional mulching or roller mowers, we cut your grass to the correct height throughout the year.
Mulch mowing returns nutrients back to the soil to help maintain a healthy, lush lawn, and is a key part of our organic lawn care service. This is the cheapest of our mowing services, and saves any waste disposal charges.
Our heavy roller mowers leave the traditional striped lawn, which looks fantastic. We collect the clippings with these mowers, and can add them to your compost heap or green waste recycling bin.
As standard we will trim all lawn edges and blow the grass cuttings off hard surfaces on each visit.
Trained and qualified to apply effective, professional grade weed control products. As an environmentally responsible company, we will only use the minimum possible quantities of herbicides. Our organic lawn treatments omit the use of herbicide, encouraging bio-diversity in the lawn. By promoting strong, healthy grass growth, a huge amounts of weeds will be out-competed and smothered by the grass.
Unlike many lawn treatment companies, we look to feed and improve the soil, rather than just apply high levels of nitrogen to the grass. This has the effect of giving far better long term health, grass root development and disease resistance. Microbial levels in the soil increase, rather than being destroyed by constant high nitrogen feeding.
This process of making thousands of small holes in your lawn is one of the best things you can do to promote it’s health.
Lawn aerating allows water, air and nutrients into the soil around the roots of the grass plants, enabling the uptake of these essential elements.
Hollow tine aerating can be used to relieve compaction, reduce sub-surface thatch, and prune lateral grass shoots to encourage new growth and thickening of the grass sward. Thousands of cores are pulled from your lawn, and soil improvers can be applied into these holes via top-dressing.
Solid tine aeration opens the ground to penetration of nutrients, water and allows grass exchange.
Fracture tine aeration works in a similar way, with the addition of the slightly offset tines creating fissures below ground to also relieve compaction, without the additional work of clearing up hollow tine cores from the lawn.
Our heavy duty commercial petrol lawn scarifiers effectively remove large quantities of moss and thatch from your lawn.
Thatch is an important part of your lawn, retaining moisture and warmth, and providing a breeding media for beneficial bacteria, fungus and organisms.
If left to get too thick, it can also have the undesirable effect of choking your lawn, preventing water, air and nutrients from getting to the roots of the grass.
Moss loves damp, bare areas of your lawn, and we will usually apply a moss killing treatment to your lawn, then return to scarify out the dead moss, reducing the risk of spreading any live moss spores around your lawn.
Due to regular mowing, grass isn’t really given the chance to self-seed. As old plants die off, the lawn is unable to replace these plants with seed, and can only thicken by lateral growth of surrounding grass plants.
Weeds will also try to quickly invade any bare space left by grass.
Regular over-seeding of your lawn is therefore an important task in maintaining a thick, lush lawn.
We normally incorporate over-seeding with lawn aeration, scarifying and top-dressing to give the new seed the best possible conditions to germinate and establish. This process is usually carried out in the Spring and Autumn.
Top-dressing is usually applied in conjunction with over-seeding and aeration.
It can be used to alter root zone soil composition, improve surface drainage, add nutrients and improve seed germination rates.
Depending on the purpose of the top dressing, we usually apply a 70/30 sand loam blend, or a top-dressing sieved compost blend.
